Stayed here for three days for a work event. It's mostly marketed as a conference or 'away day' venue and also as an event venue. We had a room set aside for our use, with air conditioning (very important because the weather was very hot), with water and sweets provided in the room, and coffee/tea/snacks/fruit also provided. The restaurant is good - on the first night we were there it was a barbecue, which was okay but obviously not up to the standard of the usual evening menu, which was excellent. Breakfast and lunch were also very good. There is a small gym which I didn't have the chance to use, and a very small swimming pool which my colleague used and said it was very pleasant. My room was comfortable and fairly spacious - and most importantly, considering how hot it was, there was a fan in the room! I would recommend using it for something like a writing retreat or work conference. I can't judge what it would be like for a wedding, although that's one of the things that they do most frequently.
Pleasant hotel in attractive grounds, good facilities. Catering and service first class. But be aware, the beds are rock hard, if you're not used to that you will struggle big time. I was informed that they use Hypnos mattresses as if that's supposed to matter. Not really when you've been awake all night. Go for the food, not the sleep.

Beautiful location. Only stopped for a quick coffee so can't comment on the food. Only downside was the coffee was on the small side for the price. Overall though very lovely place to go.
Amazing service, Brilliant Room my partner and I got right at the top with an amazing view. Little hike to it but not enough to be bothersome. Not A bad word to say, I highly recommend staying. More than worth the price.

Good hotel from the ihg group. Some rooms a bit dated but I think these are all being done up. Marcos restaurant is good and their is even a proper Starbucks. Good sized function rooms. Sadly no gym but well worth running round the abbey fields or over the the greenway (an old railway track).
Love the hotel like being at home stay here when in the area and the staff now friends make you feel so welcome. Rooms are large and clean internet is fast enough for general purpose browsing.Bar has a nice selection to keep your taste buds busy.

We booked the private dining room for a Sunday lunch to celebrate my sister's 65th birthday. Our party included ten adults and five children- one of whom has autism. The privacy of the private room was perfect for our needs- it also meant that very excited cousins didn't disturb other diners. I would thoroughly recommend booking this room for special occasions. The Sunday lunch was well cooked, plenty of food without being overwhelmed by the portion size. Service was slower than on previous occasions though the rest of the restaurant was very busy. Staff were polite and helpful.
Mixed feelings about this place. Went for dinner hoping it would be better value than the hotel we were staying in opposite. It wasn't. Service was pleasant & attentive but food was just about ok but overpriced. (We visited Sunday evening when there were no deals). The breakfast menu tempted us back the next morning & we weren't disappointed. The breakfast was delicious but this time the service was incredibly slow.

Nice relaxed atmosphere that is family friendly in this pub. Went for the 'saver menu, two courses for £9.49. The fish and chips whilst being a good sized portion of fish, the batter was too oily and could have done with being drained more prior to going on the plate. Mushy peas tasted nice, but were not enough to balance the meal. Unfortunately the accompanying tartare sauce was not available, as they had run out! Must have been a popular dish. We went with treacle pudding for the second course. This was a good sized portion and tasted very nice. It was a very good light sponge and didn't leave us feeling bloated. I had custard, but ice cream and I believe cream, was also available. Good to have the choice. I would happily go back and would choose from the same menu. Staff were friendly and as I say the atmosphere, and decor, was good.
Staff very cheerful and helpful even though they were very busy. Food served enthusiastically and nice and hot. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the price was such good value. Well done Ember Inns.

Found this Pub through google maps, visiting from Canada, the staff was amazing to accommodated 12 of us on short notice. The Food was really really good, everyone of us 12 Love their Dish. Cool atmosphere as Pub dates back to 1563.
Very nice oldy-worldy pub in the old High Street. Very good range of beers and a pleasant beer garden out the back.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
